Quaint and sleepy, yet close to all the best the Algarve has to offer, Boliqueime has long been one of the Algarve’s most popular areas. The village itself offers some basic shops, a couple of café bars, a restaurant or two, a post office and a bank, all focused around a handsome parish church – little more than enough to serve its locals’ needs. But as a result of its excellent location, the rural hills that form a backdrop behind the village have become much sought after by foreign property buyers. Peaceful and idyllic, these gentle hillsides, dotted with comfortable country villas, offer sweeping views over the Algarve coast to the ocean.
Just a few kilometers from the coast, Boliqueime could hardly be in a better position. Ten minutes drive to the east lies the traditional market town of Loulé, with good value shops and restaurants. A similar distance south brings you to Vilamoura with its luxury yacht marina, six golf courses, stylish bars and restaurants, plus fabulous golden beaches. A little further west along the coast, just twenty minutes away, is the bustling resort of Albufeira with its innumerable neon lit bars, restaurants and nightlife entertainments.
But when the nightlife, the golf or even the sun baked beaches have taken their toll, the lure of returning home to the rural tranquility around Boliqueime is almost irresistible.
